General Summary/Responsibilities:
The Associate General Counsel is responsible for assisting the Deputy Chief Legal Officer and Chief Legal Officer in managing the numerous and varied legal affairs of Premier Health Partners, an academic health system in Southwest Ohio. As one of the largest comprehensive health systems in the region, Premier Health has five acute-care hospitals, an extensive network of physicians, numerous affiliate organizations, and more than 100 locations across seven counties. The Associate General Counsel is responsible for addressing the full range of legal issues arising at Premier Health, including regulatory and reimbursement issues, fraud and abuse issues, contracting, risk management, patient relations, medical staff issues, corporate transactions and governance, real estate, and labor and employment issues. Education
Minimum Level of Education Required: Doctorate degree

Type of degree: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school

Preferred educational qualifications: Demonstrated academic excellence preferred.

Active license to practice law in the State of Ohio
Experience
Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience
Preferred experience: Prefer at least 3-5 years of legal experience with a concentration in providing legal advice and representation to a healthcare organization either in a law firm or a corporate setting. Alternatively, prefer at least 3-5 years of legal experience in corporate matters in a law firm or corporate setting. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Extensive knowledge of laws and accreditation standards governing the delivery of healthcare by providers and suppliers, including hospitals, physicians, ambulatory surgery centers, clinical laboratories, and outpatient behavioral health providers.
Experience in fraud and abuse, physician self-referral, anti-kickback, privacy, billing and reimbursement, and patient care issues.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work closely with healthcare providers, academic personnel, and all levels of management, administration, and leadership.
Effective leadership skills which demonstrate the ability to participate in innovation and change, strategic thinking, and problem solving.
Superior communication skills in both written and verbal presentation, including all aspects of legal writing technique and procedure, and the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
Ability to function effectively and complete projects in a timely manner in a fast-paced and changing environment with multiple priorities and objectives.
