Facility: Miami Valley Hospital
Shift: Part Time Varied Hours/ 12 Hours Per Pay
The position of a Childbirth Educator is held by a clinical nurse who is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the family health information available to the expectant parent/family in the childbearing year. The Childbirth Educator is responsible for contributing to the development of and presenting all program curricula. This position also requires maintaining a current, strong knowledge base through clinical and educational activities. The Childbirth Educator interfaces with all co-workers in various perinatal areas, community resources, and local/national childbirth education organizations. The Childbirth Educator is a liaison between the hospital staff and administration, and the expectant parent/family. The Childbirth Educator is accountable for compliance with applicable regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures. The Childbirth Educator provides physical, emotional and spiritual support that directly/indirectly impacts the patient outcomes and care provided to patients/ families/ significant others
Education
Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree
Additional requirements:
▪ Type of degree: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
▪ Area of study or major: Nursing
▪ Preferred educational qualifications: BSN Preferred
▪ Position specific testing requirement: N/A
Licensure/Certification/Registration
▪ Valid Ohio RN License
▪ Current CPR certification required at the time of hire
▪ Certified Childbirth Educator within 2 years of hire preferred
