Minimum Level of Education Required:
High School completion / GED
Additional requirements:
* Preferred educational qualifications: Phlebotomy training program completion preferred. Medical terminology courses helpful.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
* Phlebotomy Certification through any of the following accreditation agencies: American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
Certification must be maintained during phlebotomist’s employment.
Experience:
Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
Preferred experience: Experience in healthcare or healthcare related training program and work with the public is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
* Basic computer skills, medical terminology, telephone etiquette are needed
* Strong interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, physician offices, co-workers and other hospital personnel as well as other external customers either in person or via the telephone is required
* Organization, critical thinking, problem solving/reasoning ability, good independent judgement and initiative to effectively meet multiple and simultaneous demands are essential.
