JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field.

 

Registration: Current registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

 

Licensure: Current Ohio Licensure with Ohio Board of Dietetics.

 

Certification: Not required

 

Experience: Three years computer experience required. Pass the Basic Computer Aptitude test with a score of 80% or better. Type a minimum of 30 WPM. Two years experience as a clinical dietitian preferred. CBORD experience preferred. Experience with diet office, call center, or food service supervision preferred.

 

Skills/Other: Must possess effective verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak, read, and write in English. Ability to collect, analyze, and communicate data effectively in written, verbal, and electronic formats – utilizing advanced math skills to perform conversions between different units of measure (weights/volumes) and an understanding of statistically driven data. Ability to identify problems, research and analyze information, and apply principles of information technology to make decisions and solve problems Technical knowledge in clinical nutrition and education.

 

DIMENSIONS/SCOPE

The Dietitian-Nutrition Informaticist works as a part of the PH Nutrition Services team and includes dietitians, technicians, food production staff, administration and patient food services staff as well as other department staff.

 

Responsible to oversee the department computer system clinical application (CBORD NSS/Room Service). Includes maintaining integrity of all food and nutrition data as it relates to clinical application, allergens and safe patient care. Coordinates with the Manager of Informatics and the PH Central Food Production leadership team on the correlation of clinical and food production applications.

 

Develops and maintains relationships with all PH Nutrition Services teams.

 

Develops, presents and evaluates nutrition and computer related in-services or seminars for professional and lay audiences.

 

Acts as a positive role model, instructor, and coach for all students/interns as needed for PH.

 

Actively participates in customer satisfaction initiatives. Follows Patient Experience standards at each facility to meet or exceed customer expectations. Manages Diet Office/Room Service Call Center staff to meet or exceed the customer service goals as related to the telephone wait times, talk times, and service standards – reports metrics weekly to senior administration across PH.

 

Adheres to standards for patient safety, sanitation, Joint Commission, CMS, and confidentiality. Assures the data entered in CBORD NSS system is compliant to safety standards and investigates any failures for cause/fix solutions. Ensure non-select regular menu complies with the Dietary Reference Intakes for the 50-70 year old male standard.

 

Dedicated to quality through participation in performance improvement activities, initiatives and task forces. Participates in the development of procedures, guidelines and standards of performance for the area of diet office and CBORD NSS.

 

Participates in the planning, development, and attainment of short and long-range goals for diet office and CBORD NSS.

 

Maintains effective written and oral communication within institution/organization and department.

 

Coordinator has joint supervisory responsibility for 13 -14 FTE’s, including one DTR, in conjunction with the Diet Office Supervisor. Works with Diet Office Supervisor to ensure the competence of the Diet Office Associates. Responsible for the competency of the DTR under the dietitian license. Plans, organizes, delegates, controls and evaluates work of assigned areas to provide high quality, cost-effective services. Assists Informatics Manager with financial responsibilities through effective scheduling of resources.

 

Exhibits thorough understanding of requirements of all regulatory programs including: Ohio Department of Health, Public Health Montgomery County, Joint Commission, CMS or other governing bodies.

 

Human Resources responsibility covers all aspects of employee management to maintain a positive productive work environment in the Diet Office. Responsible for self-development and the development of employees in area of responsibility.

 

Focus on Performance Improvement Projects that impact area of responsibility; key role in development of short and long range plans and goals for areas of responsibility.

 

Interacts with other PH departments and participates on committees, task forces as assigned. Knowledgeable on computerized diet office health care issues.

 

Provides leadership in customer relations and is responsible for patient satisfaction survey and other data are used in planning to meet or exceed patient expectations.
