General Summary/Responsibilities:
Strategic success for Premier Health depends on a secure, reliable, high availability, and scalable technology infrastructure that supports the PH Strategic Vision.
The Director, Infrastructure is responsible for:
- Drive cloud and on-prem modernization, champion automation, and deliver secure, scalable platforms that empower clinicians, caregivers, and patients.
- Directing and managing all corporate infrastructure assets including Servers, Telecommunications, Networks, Storage environments, Backup environments, Personal Computers, Thin Client Devices, and Peripherals.
- Oversees corporate data centre facility and operational planning.
- Directing and managing the planning, evaluation, development, installation, testing, modification and operation of all Infrastructure for a large, integrated, multi-institutional healthcare delivery system.
- Responsibility for all infrastructure management and reporting.
- Developing strategic plans, establishing priorities and allocating resources for the Digital Health and Technology Infrastructure group to achieve Division as well as Premier Health’s goals.
- Oversees Technology standards development and enforcement.
- Prepare and manages budgets including a $5 -10 Million Capital Budget and a $10 – 25 million Operating Budget.
Directs, oversees, and supervises 35 – 60 staff, managers, and consultants.

- Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information.

- Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.
- Reports to work as required.

- Responsibility for all infrastructure management and reporting.
- Developing strategic plans, establishing priorities and allocating resources for the IT Infrastructure group to achieve Division as well as Premier Health’s goals.
- Oversees Technology standards development and enforcement.
- Member of Senior Leadership Digital Health and Technology Team
- Oversees timely project initiation and completion.
- Implements technical architectural design and cybersecurity controls.
- Development of team organization, technical, and personal development.
- Annually updates policies and procedures for infrastructure.
- Follows appropriate technology controls, i.e., change control.
- Maintains “care and feeding” maintenance in a manner that maintains operational and data integrity of the system.
- Maintains “break-fix” maintenance in a manner that maintains operational and data integrity of the system.
Education
- Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree
Additional requirements:
- Type of degree: Bachelor’s degree
- Area of study or major: Computer Science, Business Administration, Computer Engineering
Preferred educational qualifications: Master’s degree
Experience
- Minimum Level of Experience Required: 7 - 10 years of job-related experience
- Prior job title or occupational experience: Technology Architecture, Operations Management, Technology Management, Logistics Management, Quality Management, PMO staff or management
- Prior specific functional responsibilities: IT leadership, Digital Leadership, Applications Leadership, Technology Leadership
- Preferred experience: IT Leadership, Digital Health and Technology Leadership, Operations, Managed Services, Infrastructure Leadership
- Other experience requirements: Experience in hospital-based computer information technology helpful
Knowledge/Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the information technology field required, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Strong background in management of complex centralized and decentralized on-line computer information systems.
- Effective oral and written communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal and participative management skills.
- Possess proven experience delivering 99.9%, or greater, network availability in CISCO, MS Windows and networking environments.
- High degree of knowledge in all technical areas of healthcare computing infrastructure technology.
- Additionally, 3 – 5 years of hospital application experience recommended.
- Prior experience in managing large system upgrades and/or other large system projects is required.
