Director of Nursing – Med Surg – MVH
The Director is mutually responsible for the provision of high quality and cost effective patient care with the other members of the nursing leadership team through the implementation of the hospital strategic plan. The Director is accountable for establishing productive working relationships with the medical staff and other departments. The Director provides leadership to management and is a represent of the Vice Present, Hospital Operations. The Director is an advocate for the department, nursing, and patients and provides opportunities and role modeling for the growth and development of personnel.
The Director acts as a representative of Vice President, Hospital Operations and assumes the responsibilities for nursing in the absence of the person. The Director communicates appropriate information to the Vice President, Hospital Operations, regarding the impact of hospital and strategic decisions on patient care project/program development and implementation.
The Direct of Nursing is a registered nurse on the Executive Team who is responsible for the management of multiple nursing departments, programs, or interdisciplinary teams within MVH. The Director is responsible to develop and implement product line business plans and present results to the Executive Team.
An applicant for this position must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently be licensed in the State of Ohio as an RN.
Master’s degree is required. If Master’s degree is not in nursing, then the candidate must have a baccalaureate or doctoral degree in nursing.
A minimum of five years in hospital nursing and a minimum of five years of progressive management experience is required.
The Director must demonstrate expertise in: Communication across disciplines, change management, managing group dynamics, and performance improvement processes.
