GENERAL MECHANIC
Under the supervision of the Manager of Maintenance, performs preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, repairs, installations, replacements and tests. General Mechanic operates engines, boilers, pumps, air compressors, air conditioning equipment, heating and ventilating systems, steam lines, valves, control, building systems, production equipment and systems and maintenance support equipment.
Essential Duties & Functions:
• Assures corrective maintenance, servicing, repairs, installing, and maintaining hospital related machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation and service manuals and manufacturer instruction manuals.
• Conducting daily rounds of machinery rooms, nursing floors, dietary, and other areas as assigned.
• Is knowledgeable of the operation and can demonstrate skills to service and maintain most of the facility equipment and systems at the hospital including life safety systems, utility systems, building systems, production systems, maintenance support systems, and grounds equipment and systems.
• Performs Plumbing installation and repairs on applicable equipment.
• Performs electrical repair of appliances and lighting.
• Assures neatness of shop area, mechanical rooms and job areas and maintains operating equipment in good condition and appearance.
• Assures proper care and use of tools and equipment related to working performance.
• Performance work in other maintenance classifications in the interest of hospital safety and for operation of the hospital as assigned.

• Performs all other duties as assigned
• Responsible for compliance with Organization Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.
• Participates in and coordinates with organizational process to collect and evaluate information about hazards and safety practices that are used to identify safety management issues. Adheres to established policies and procedures which may include wearing of personal protective equipment.
HS-High School Diploma
Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience
Prior job title or occupational experience: Maintenance Experience
Preferred experience: Hospital Maintenance Experience
Knowledge/Skills
Able to analyze a given situation and make minor decisions.
Familiar with equipment, tools, methods, and techniques normally associated with maintenance work
Ability to work well alone with no minimal supervision
Able to read sketches, blueprints, weights, measures and equipment operations and service manuals.
Ability to perform acetylene welding/cutting and electric arc welding.
Able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid operator’s license in order to travel to off-site locations.
Ability to record data in a legible and accurate manner.
