Knowledge/Skills

 

§  Demonstrated competency of standard medical terminology.

§  Basic computer knowledge.  Must have demonstrated working knowledge with Windows 98, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

§  Strong organizational skills as well as excellent verbal communication skills.

§  Strong customer service skills.

§  Staffing experience preferred.

§  Ability to resolve ongoing intake staffing concerns with critical thinking abilities.

§  Ability to be flexible, creative and proactive with staff and customer needs.

Working Conditions:        

 

1.      General office environment.

2.      Climate controlled environment.

3.      May work some evenings and weekend hours to complete projects or meet the needs of the department.

Organizational Standards

§  Responsible for identifying patient care needs on all incoming referrals.

§  Assists with day to day operations of the referral department, including receiving and clinically evaluating data and establishing start of care date.

§  Responsible for transcribing physician orders, medication changes and discharges.

§  Works with all information pertaining to initial referral, patient status, and initial contact with patient.

§  Responsible to follow up on labs and the communication/documentation this requires.

§  Works with all information pertaining to current patient issues.

§  Responsible for assisting other patient care services staff to resolve patient issues.

§  Assists with processes to obtain and provide information about all current patients.

§  Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external

        customers to ensure quality customer service.

§  Attends team meetings/training as required.

Essential Duties & Functions:

 

The Healthcare Unit Clerk will assist in answering incoming calls and interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner at all times.

 

The Clerk is also responsible for accurate data entry of patient information into the system.  He/she is also responsible for forwarding data to appropriate departments as set out in agency processes.  He/she collaborates with internal and external customers as it relates to case management needs of the patients.  He/she has the ability to multitask and prioritize with time sensitive materials.

 

The incumbent will need technology used by the agency to perform the assigned duties including Horizons, Epic, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Interactive scheduling, and right fax.
