HVAC/REFRIG TECH
Position: HVAC/ Refrigeration Tech
Department: Building Maintenance
Shift: 7am -3:30pm
Status: Full-time / 80 hours per pay
Facility: Miami Valley South Hospital
An HVAC/Refrigeration Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of repairs, preventive maintenance, monitoring, and testing of HVAC, Medical Gas, and Refrigeration equipment. Responsible for the upkeep, operation, cleanliness, and safety of all HVAC/Refrigeration/Med Gas equipment associated with the infrastructure of the hospital. Ensures all of The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements are completed. Participates in department and craft meetings and uses correct safety work habits. Must be available and onsite for all emergencies, shut downs or repairs as requested.

Education
Minimum Level of Education Required: High School Diploma / GED

Type of degree: Associate degree preferred
Preferred educational qualifications: Technical School or Apprentice program graduate
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Universal Refrigerant Certification
Experience
Minimum Level of Experience Required: 5-7 years of job-related experience
Prior job title or occupational experience: Minimum of five years working in the HVAC trade
Prior specific functional responsibilities: General construction/ maintenance experience on HVAC, refrigeration, and medical gas systems
Preferred experience: Hospital maintenance experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills
Excellent guest relations and communication skills (written and verbal).
Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and instruction manuals.
Ability to work on multiple tasks and to perform mathematical skills, read, write reports, and communicate effectively.
Must be trained on computers and software programs relevant to Plant Operations and Engineering.
General knowledge of healthcare related codes and standards (NFPA 101 -Life Safety Code, OSHA, other National Fire Protection Association codes, The Joint Commission (TJC), Ohio Building Code (OBC) etc.
Must have working knowledge of a Building Automation System (BAS) and its components.
Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance on HVAC/Refrigeration/Medical Gas equipment, DDC Control service and repairs, proper refrigerant handling and disposal procedures, planning and managing projects, preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Universal refrigerant certification required.
Adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; working with constant interruptions; displaying mechanical aptitude; and complying with OSHA/OSHA regulations.
