RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

 

·          Reconciliation and verification of items ordered versus items received for stock, non-stock and capital items against vendor provided documentation and electronic purchase orders

·          Accurate, timely electronic receiving for incoming material

·          Effective, timely written and/or verbal communication with purchasing on procurement-related issues such as returns, discrepancies, backorders, expedited orders, etc.

·          The logistic supply specialist will utilize the computer ordering system and will follow proper ordering and accounting procedures.

·          Daily mail and courier pick up and distribution including X-Rays.

·          Supply cart scanning, replenishment and electronic maintenance.

·          Quarterly PAR analysis for all supply areas assigned and updates

·          Review supply carts for expired items monthly and stock rotation

·          Effective, timely communication and responses with clinicians regarding requests and/or supply chain concerns

·          Prompt and accurate response to product or equipment recall notification or conversions

·          Warehouse inventory put away, straightening, and counts

·          Maintains all areas of materials storage in neat and organized manner

·          Ability to learn current supply chain inventory software for stock and JIT inventory management, shipping, receiving and reporting.  Comfortable with accompanying handheld operations.

·          Equipment cleaning and pick up as needed

·          Linen pick up and distribution as needed

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Graduate or GED.

Certification:  Pallet Truck Operation preferred.

Experience: In Materials Management in Healthcare preferred.

Skills/Other: Proficient mathematics, reading, and writing skills required. Preferred computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; basic Window’s-based operations; and basic knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software systems.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

 

o    Strength:      Ability to lift, carry, push and pull. Must be able to lift 30 – 50 pounds.  Ability to push carts up to 700 pounds.  Ability to stand/sit combination of eight (8) hours.  Ability to walk up and down hospital corridors pushing carts of supplies/equipment

o    Stooping/Bending: Must be able to bend the body downward and upward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremity and back muscles.  Stooping by bending knees to place or pull supplies from bottom shelves of carts or storage shelving

o    Reaching: Extending the hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction  

o    Handling: Seizing, handling, grasping, turning or working with hand(s).  Fingers are involved as an extension of the hand, such as pushing buttons, computer keys, turning knobs and switches        

o    Talking: Expression by means of spoken words to communicate oral information to customers accurately, quickly, and loud enough to clearly understand in the English language

o    Hearing: Perceiving sounds such as tow motors or other equipment in department and corridors, phones ringing, overhead paging, beepers, alarms and buzzers on equipment

o    VisionClarity of vision at 20 feet

o    Working Conditions: Conditions tend to be seasonal and vary with outside temperature.

         Frequent jobs or tasks have to be performed outside, unloading trucks, moving carts into the hospital, assisting with throwing away boxes. Floors are slippery at times.

         Inside work area, although heated and air-conditioned, tends to be a little cold in winter and warm in summer (approximately 80% of shift).

         Logistics Supply Specialists adheres to all safety procedures/universal precautions to minimize hazards in our area.  Potential exposure to infective organisms.   The potential for harm is greater unless strict adherence to universal precautions    and safety procedures are practiced as expected
