Job Title: MRI Tech - Hospital
Unit: MRI
Shift: Mon-Fri, 10a-6:30p, call & holiday rotation
Facility: AMC
May have on call responsibilities.
Essential Duties & Functions:
Performs MRI procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates MRI studies for technical image quality.
Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the MRI procedure.
Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed MRI safety standards. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.
Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.
Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction
Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.
Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.

Education Required: Associate degree
Additional requirements:
Type of degree: Allied Health
Area of study or major: Medical Imaging Sciences to include additional MRI physics coursework or completed within 6 months of hire
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
CPR Certification required
MRI registry preferred
ODH licensure preferred
ARRT RT (R) registry or ARMRIT required
Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
Preferred experience: One year MRI experience preferred

Cross-sectional anatomy
American College of Radiology (ACR) MRI Safe Practice Guidelines
Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
Knowledge of advanced MRI computer applications
