Shift: Part Time/Monday-Wednesday 9:00 am -5:00 pm /48 Hours per Pay

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner (NP), in collaboration with physicians, functions as a member of a treatment team to deliver direct patient care in the mental health outpatient clinic. The NP ensures that all services comply with both internal and external standards established by regulatory agencies, SBHI, and funders. The NP must practice in accordance with the rules adopted by the Ohio Board of Nursing, the Revised Code, and SBHI policies and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
· There is generally a pleasant physical environment; however, unpleasant conditions may include frequent interruptions, difficulty controlling office temperatures, heavy workload demands and constantly changing regulations and standards.
· While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to talk and/or hear, to sit, stand, and walk; use the hands to finger, handle, and/or feel and be able to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to focus visually.
· Some flexibility in scheduling is expected to meet changing SBHI business needs. This may require employees to work different days/hours or stay beyond their normal shift.
· Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively within a team as demonstrated by effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
· Demonstrated ability in basic computer literacy skills.
· Influenza vaccination is required on an annual basis.
· Physical harm may result from aggressive or physically ill clients. Aggressive client training and adherence to universal precautions helps to minimize the risk of physical harm.
· As applicable to job duties, valid Ohio driver’s license and/or dependable private vehicle is required.
· As applicable to job duties, Crisis De-escalation training is required on an annual basis.
· As applicable to job duties, maintain current certification in First Aid and CPR.

Job duties:.
· Demonstrate adherence to the PHP/SBHI Patient Experience philosophy, guidelines and tools.
· Demonstrate strong ethics, honesty, and adherence to PHP/SBHI Code of Conduct and PHP/SBHI Compliance Program.
· Collaborate with referral sources, internal team members and external service providers to ensure appropriate patient care and continuity of care.
· Complete all direct service documentation accordingto department standards and timelines.
· Ensure all clinical care services are provided in compliance with regulatory standards established by governing bodies.
· Demonstrate flexibility, willingness and initiative in doing what is necessary to get the job done. Act before being asked and go beyond minimal expectations of a task/duty.
· Pursue professional development activities that support SBHI and its strategic direction.
· Provide documentation of continuing education required for maintaining current professional licensure, competency, and credentials.
· Demonstrate use of evidence-based practices.
· Respond and comply with all administrative/managerial email communication within the requested timeframe.
· Communicate and collaborate with staff that have identified problematic/complicated cases.
· Address alerts within CareLogic in a timely manner.
· Attend Medical Services staff monthly meetings.
· Ensure utilization of Dr. First in daily practice.
· Ensure understanding of Evaluation and Management procedures as well as new CPT coding to ascertain proper billing for patients and appropriate financial billings.
· Participate in physician peer reviews as directed by SBHI Medical Director.
· Respond to failed activities in a timely manner.
· Provide appointments for hospital discharges within 2 weeks of discharge for patients from psychiatric units.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Completion of undergraduate and graduate nursing education from an accredited school of nursing at the master’s or doctoral level.
· License to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio.
· Ohio Certificate of authority as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing (COA-NP).
· Certificate to prescribe in accordance with Sections 4723.48 through 4723.485, Ohio Revised Code, the rules of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
· National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner with Psychiatric endorsement
· Current CPR certification
· SBHI Standard Care Arrangement executed within one month of hire.
· Training and experience in the types of services provided by the team, with age appropriate competency, using the Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders.
