ONCOLOGY NURSE NAVIGATOR
The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes. The RN is responsible for seeing that cancer patients receive treatment services that are timely, appropriate and comprehensive. This is accomplished through identification of patients’ needs and working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team across the in-patient and out-patient continuum of care. The RN supports patient/family education, monitors the recommended treatment plan, and sees that appropriate follow up occurs in the outpatient setting. The RN also monitors identified quality measures and works with the multi-disciplinary team to reach expected outcomes. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.
