Patient Care Tech (PCT), Observation Unit

Education
Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED

Licensure/Certification/Registration
▪ Current HealthCare Provider or Professional Rescuer BLS CPR certification required prior to completion of orientation. (Not required to start; Can receive at orientation)

Experience
Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience.

Must-Have Successful completion of one of the following:

1. Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
2. Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities such as bathing, turning/positioning, and toileting.
3. Currently enrolled in nursing school and completion of one clinical rotation.

Knowledge/Skills
o Must be able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor
o Basic computer knowledge
o Strong organization skills
o Effective interpersonal and communication skills
o Experience in an Acute Care setting is preferred.
