Qualifications

 

EducationMinimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree

 

Licensure/Certification/Registration

 

  • Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) required

 

Experience

 

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 5 - 7  years of job related experience

Preferred experience: Payroll Processing

Other experience requirements: Proficient in Excel. Knowledge of Payroll systems, Time & Attendance software, and various system platforms is required. Including experience in ERP Payroll environment preferred.

 

Knowledge/Skills

 

 

  • Must have proven proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Suite Products. Knowledge of Payroll software, Time & Attendance software, and various system platforms is required.

Essential Duties & Functions

 

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for ensuring data integrity and a high level of customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for reviewing and auditing system integrity based on policy & procedures. This position is responsible for reporting and maintaining all documented information on all system upgrades, testing and patches with the current payroll software. This position serves as an alternate with assisting the Supervisor/ Manager of Payroll with bi-weekly preliminary and final balancing of Payroll at the unavailability of the Payroll Specialist. This position administers security procedures to assure the primary or employee payroll information is correct based on access to the system.

This position is responsible for department management in the absence of the leadership. This position requires minimal direction from management and is able to problem solve independently. The Payroll Administrator will train and mentor new and existing staff. The Payroll Administrator must be goal-oriented and a proactive thinker who challenges current processes and makes recommendations for improvement.

The Payroll Administrator will assist in cross training other payroll personnel as well as being cross trained in other departmental duties. This position will also assist the Supervisor/ Manager in training and mentoring new and junior staff. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for the knowledge base education of the software systems used within the department and be ready to assist and test on any new implementations on these software systems. Be able to communicate any issues within those vendors and assist in making the software corrected file layouts with the assistance of the HRIS teams.

The Payroll Administrator must demonstrate effective and timely Problem Solving (51) skills. This position must possess Self-Development (54) skills which includes being committed to and actively working to continuously improve him/her as well as understanding that different situations and levels may call for different skills and approaches. This position must possess Interpersonal Savvy (31) to be able to relate and communicate with multiple levels of people possessing different skill sets including management personnel. The Payroll Administrator must be Action Oriented (1) including anticipating problems and adjusting plans to support an optimal level of productivity. The person needs to be a quick learner. This position must have excellent verbal communication skills (67) and advanced interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective communication with a variety of internal and external customers.
