PHARMACY 340B COORDINATOR

Pharmacy 340B Coordinator provides specialized management, audit skills, business experience; and understanding of pharmaceutical processes to assist the System Vice President Pharmacy Operations and Pharmacy Business Manager. Primary responsibility for management and coordination of the pharmacy 340B drug discount programs for all qualified entities within the system. Such management and coordination includes ensuring compliance with all federal regulations and related interpretations, ensuring the programs are fully implemented in all areas of qualified use, and assuring records and documentation are complete, auditable, and accurate. To monitor and report the risks that exist for any documentation and process of the Premier Health 340B program to the 340B program administrators and Pharmacy system leadership.
Essential Duties and Functions:
· Purchase pharmaceuticals through the drug wholesaler and directly from manufacturers
· Ensure contract compliance and minimize drug spend
· Attain inventory turnover goal as set by the Pharmacy Business Manager
· Manage backorders to minimize stock-outs
· Manage drug recalls, including completing all required paperwork, returning recalled medications, and maintaining required files
· Sequester outdated medications and facilitate returns through our reverse distributor
· Meet recordkeeping requirements of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act
· Coordinate selection of alternative products with appropriate clinical and managerial staff for drug shortages
· Proficiently use purchasing software for ordering and reporting on purchase history.
· Communicate NDC changes to the Willow Team to ensure barcode administration of medications functionality works for stocked medications
· Manage the borrow-loan function
· Communicate cost transfers for pharmaceuticals to Finance on a monthly basis
· Prepare medication doses prior to a pharmacist’s review & dispensing if necessary
· Restock medications in automated dispensing cabinets if necessary
· Delivery of medications to patient care areas if necessary
· Monitor drug inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of medications without stockpiling supplies
· Must maintain clean and safe working environment
· Troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy. Must be familiar with pharmacy software.
· Must use aseptic technique, wear appropriate attire, and follow standards in aseptic compounding
For 340B facilities
· Ensure that drug purchases are made on appropriate accounts to avoid compliance issues

Knowledge/Skills:
· Familiar with the detailed operations of a 340B program
· Well read and able to communicate with senior leadership and legal/compliance on all federal publications on the topic of 340B drug discount programs and requirements
· Must be able to adapt to unique circumstances of a hospital environment and work across the organization
· Work with pharmacy buyers to minimize drug expenses due to unnecessary WAC expenditures
· Monitors contract pharmacy revenues
· Facilitates contract pharmacy contracting between PH legal department and retail pharmacies
· Abiltiy to problem solve and correct split billing software issues involving software vendor and IT resources as needed
· Ability to audit detailed transaction records to ensure compliance with 340B regulations
· Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem solving skills
· Able to read and write printed material in English
· Proficiency with computer keyboard operations
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required
· Proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications preferred
· Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage
· Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy. Must be familiar with pharmacy software
