Position Summary

General Summary/Responsibilities:


The Primary Scorer scores in lab and home sleep studies. Conducts day studies as needed. Participates in staff education when appropriate. Scores sleep studies performed in the Sleep Center and provides HSAT service assistance when needed. He/She is responsible for data collection and presentation for quality assurance and quarterly audits.

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 -5  years of job-related experience
Prior job title or occupational experience: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist,
Prior specific functional responsibilities: 3-5years of sleep experience
Preferred experience: RRT or CRT, or other advanced degree
Other experience requirements: N/A


Knowledge/Skills Must show extreme proficiency in the data collection and scoring of all types of sleep studies.     Have an advanced knowledge of computer skills including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel.

Essential Duties & Functions

Essential Duties & Functions:

•    Gather and Analyze and Score Patient Information
•    Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments as necessary
•    Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact free and make adjustments as necessary.
•    Score clinical events according to center specific protocols.
•    Responsible for the scoring of most sleep studies performed.
•    Demonstrates mask fitting expertise
•    Assist with the evaluation and selection of new equipment and procedures
•    Complete HL7 folder on working days
•    Performs daytime sleep studies as needed
                     

 

 

Other Duties & Functions:
•    May be required to work flexible shifts at different facilities.
•    Provide day study coverage when needed.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree

    Area of study or major: Respiratory Care preferred
    Preferred educational qualifications: Bachelors

Licensure/Certification/Registration

1.    List any Licensure/Certification/Registration required by the position. Please see Lawson Code Reference Sheet.    Valid Ohio Respiratory Care License
2.    Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential through NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care).
3.    BLS certification required.
4.    Registered Polysomnographic Technologist – RPSGT or SDS through BRPT (Board of Registered Polysomnography Technicians) within two years of hire.
