The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT-III) functions in an advanced, multi-faceted role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence in the practice of respiratory care.  The RRT-III is responsible for the respiratory assessment, therapeutic treatment, evaluation, testing, education, and communication for all patient populations served.  The RRT-III maintains competency in the broadest range of respiratory therapy and technologies and can work independently within the entire scope of respiratory services at their respective facilities. The RRT-III coordinates care with interdisciplinary team to promote an excellent patient experience.  The RRT-III is responsible for maintaining compliance with the Ohio Respiratory Care Laws, applicable regulatory standards, and institutional and system policies. 

Education

 

Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree

                                            

Additional requirements:

§  Type of degree: Applied Science or Equivalent

§  Area of study or major: Respiratory Care or NBRC approved registry requirements

§  Preferred educational qualifications: Bachelor’s degree

§  Position specific testing requirement: N/A

 

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  

§  Valid Ohio Respiratory Care License  

§  Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential through NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care)

§  BLS

§  ACLS

§  NRP certification required within 6 months of hire or based upon course availability

§  PALS certification required within 6 months of hire or based upon course availability
