RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT/EKG TECH
The Respiratory Equipment and EKG Technician works in a multi-faceted, detail-oriented role while demonstrating professionalism. The technician is responsible for cleaning and assembling available equipment, stocking of supplies to designated areas and inventory of respiratory supplies and equipment. In addition, the technician is expected to communicate effectively with leadership and respiratory staff concerning the supply requirements and repairs of equipment. They are responsible for administering basic electrocardiographic procedures. The technician is responsible for the proper operation of all EKG equipment with special demonstration of artifact troubleshooting skills to record quality tracings. The technician is responsible for appropriate notifications for STAT orders.
Education
Minimum Level of Education Required:
Licensure/Certification/Registration
· Current BLS certification required at time of hire.
· EKG Certification preferred
Knowledge/Skills
· Ability to analyze and prioritize in an efficient and effective manner.
· Must be detail oriented.
· Must possess and display effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
· Must have extensive knowledge of the various cardio diagnostic procedures so he/she can thoroughly explain the test to the patient.
· Major emphasis is placed upon diagnostic quality of the EKG recording and upon courteous, sympathetic treatment of patients.
· Basic knowledge about EKG patterns from normal to abnormal preferred.
· Ability to analyze and prioritize in an efficient and effective manner.
