SCHEDULING COORD MED IMAGING/MVH/Radiologic Tech or Registered Nurse
Title: Scheduling Coordinator, Medical Imaging
Unit: Interventional Radiology
Hours: Day Shift, 10 Hours
Facility: MVH
Position Summary:
Independently coordinates and schedules outpatient CT & Ultrasound invasive procedures and all outpatient Interventional Radiology procedures. May schedule inpatient procedures as needed. Coordinates the retrieval of previous correlating imaging procedures and works with Radiologist to approve schedule. Works in accordance established policies, procedures, and standards regarding responsibilities. Assists with the coordination of patient flow and activities of the IR Department.
Essential Duties & Functions:
1. Receives and places telephone calls for the purpose of scheduling CT and Ultrasound invasive procedures and Interventional Radiology procedures in an appropriate time period.
2. Maintains ongoing communication with both customers and various
Imaging areas.
3. Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all internal and external relationships.
4. Coordinates the Radiologist schedules and assures the retrieval of previous correlating imaging procedures.
5. Assures a valid physician order is received for all Imaging procedures.
6. Coordinates patient activities in combination with the technical and medical staff to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
7. Strictly follows all safety practices and policies.
8. Maintains knowledge of the locations, and operations of all emergency equipment in the unit.
9. Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
Education:
Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree
Additional requirements:
§ Type of degree: Allied Health
§ Area of study or major: Radiologic Technology or Registered Nurse
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
§ CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire
§ ARRT RT (R) registry required
§ ODH licensure or equivalent for RN required
Experience:
Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
Prior job title or occupational experience: Radiology Technologist
Preferred experience: Two to three progressive experience in CT &/or Interventional Radiology
Knowledge/Skills:
§ Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
§ Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
§ Basic knowledge of medical terminology
§ Knowledge of the various departments/areas served
