JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:    High School degree required. Two year associate degree preferred.
Licensure:    N/A
Certification:  N/A
Experience: Three years of Environmental Services management experience and demonstrated competencies in personnel, financial, customer relations and
     leadership management preferred.
Skills/Other:
1.        Interpersonal skills must demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills and deal with a wide variety of customers including employees,
supervision and hospital personnel.
2.        Must be able to work flexible hours.
3.        Passes pre-employment physical
4.        Successfully completes orientation and 3-month probationary period.
5.        Completion of an Executive Housekeeping course (preferred).
 
DIMENSION/SCOPE
The Manager works under the direction of and reports to the Ops Manager.  In collaboration with the ops manager the shift manager will respond promptly and directly to appropriate customers in their designated areas (i.e. Shift Managers, Nurse Managers, Office Managers, etc.).  The Manager has the following responsibilities in conjunction with the Ops Manager, which includes, but is not limited to:
 
1.        OVERALL ENVIRONMENT
1.1           Promotes institutional commitment from individuals
1.2           Encourages people to believe in and care about quality work
1.3           Provides challenge by focusing on problem resolution
1.4           Clearly identifies and communicates organizational purpose and goals for staff
1.5           Balances autonomy and direction to enhance management of the work environment
1.6           Interviews and select new employees.
1.7           Asses training needs
1.8           Evaluate employee job performance and provide timely feedback. Use the performance appraisal process.
1.9           Manager crisis situations, personnel problems, hospital and department policies and procedures. Use corrective action when appropriate.
1.10        Communicates pertinent information on a timely basis.
1.11        Communicates rational for financial decisions to staff.
1.12        Monitor assigned areas for cleanliness, safety and aesthetics. Provide feedback on condition of buildings and their furnishings to appropriate areas.
1.13        Assure professional growth through either formal or informal educational activities.
 
 
2.        PATIENT CARE
2.1           Maintains appropriate communication related to all patients, visitors and families.
 
3.        CITIZENSHIP/TEAM SUPPORT
3.1           Demonstrates flexibility and self-direction by responding as a team player.
3.2           Helps to create a positive work environment that promotes productivity.
3.3           Works cooperatively with other departments. Responds to problems and/or complaints in a timely manner
 
4.        DEVELOPMENT/JOB KNOWLEDGE
4.1           Development of Self.
4.2           Development with Premier Health Hospitals.
4.3           Encourage growth and development of staff.  Provide direction and leadership to staff
