Education Required: Associate degree
Area of study or major: Healthcare or Business Field
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid Driver’s License. HFMA certification as revenue cycle specialist required within 1 year of employment.
Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience
Prior job title or occupational experience: Revenue Cycle or Patient Financial Services experience required. Training experience in a Revenue Cycle Healthcare or related field is required.
Knowledge/Skills
• Complex decision making skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Minimum typing 40 wpm.
• Must demonstrate exceptional skills in customer relations, quality thinking, productivity, peer coaching, training, teamwork, phone etiquette, and knowledge of general hospital services.
• Must demonstrate ability to effectively determine priorities and plan staff workday without routine and constant supervision.
• Must possess clear and concise verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
• Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Must possess mathematical aptitude to make contractual calculations.
• Able to build productive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Overall knowledge of third party collections, registration, billing and contracts and effective accounts receivable management concepts.
• Must be able to perform needs assessments, performance measurements, and evaluations.
• Must demonstrate competency in instructional design, have proven record of training management, including developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework, and conducting training for adult students in structured learning situations.
• Class time may be either morning, afternoon, or evening, as needed. May be required to work outside regular working hours.
• Must be able to develop PFS training materials and will be responsible for prompt posting of updates on department intranet site.
• Must be able to interpret data via audits and develop team competencies to measure team understanding and job readiness. Team competencies to include new hire competencies and annual competencies.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
