Position Summary

The Director is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for physician contracting and compensation strategies. Reporting directly to the President, the director works closely with the executive team to ensure strategic contracting and compensation plans are integrated and consistent. This position leads the development of physician compensation standards.  The director is responsible to negotiates contracts with physicians.

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Master's degree

Additional requirements:

  • Type of degree: Masters
  • Area of study or major: Business Administration or Healthcare Administration, Finance or Accounting

Experience

 

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 7 - 10  years of job related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: Progressive healthcare leadership experience including planning, budgeting, contracting and organizational cultural change

Prior specific functional responsibilities: Extensive experience working directly with physicians and in a matrix environment. Must have direct experience at successfully negotiating compensation arrangements with physicians, both individual practitioners and multi-provider groups.  Must have previous experience working with primary care and multiple sub-specialty physicians.  Must have a current working knowledge of best practices in physician compensation models, strategies and contract language.

  • Maintains compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards.
  • Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
  • Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.
  • Reports to work as required.
