Position Summary

 

General Summary/Responsibilities:

The EAP Counselor is responsible for providing short-term, solution focused counseling for clients that

include employees and their families. The EAP Counselor will assist employees accessing the EAP benefit provided by their employer for such things as counseling, help finding community resources, conflict management, substance abuse and psychological issues. The EAP Counselors must have excellent customer service, diverse social skills, and the agility to think on their feet. While occasionally needed, experience assessing for mental health emergencies and coordinating care for any such need is required. Education

 

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred

                                               

Additional requirements:

§  Type of degree: Bachelor’s / Master’s

§  Area of study or major: Counseling or Social Work from an accredited university required.  

§  Preferred educational qualifications: N/A

§  Position specific testing requirement: Dependent licensure in behavior health required. Independent licensure in behavior health preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification/Registration

 

 

Experience

 

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5  years of job related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: Experience with EAP field preferred.

Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A

Preferred experience: N/A

Other experience requirements: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, and    PowerPoint.

    §  Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)

    §  Marriage and Family Therapist in Ohio (MFT or IMFT)

     

     

     

    Experience

     

    Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5  years of job related experience

    Prior job title or occupational experience: Experience with EAP field preferred.

    Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A

    Preferred experience: N/A

    Other experience requirements: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, and    PowerPoint.

     

     

     

    Knowledge/Skills

    §  Experience with short-term, solution focused counseling and case management.

    §  Familiarity with community resources and assisting clients in obtaining needed referrals and resources as necessary.

    §  Skilled at solution focused methodology to foster behavior change through knowledge and understanding of behavior change theories and their application.

    §  Ability to handle crisis stabilization.

    §  Expertise to conduct occasional trainings, webinars, and critical incident debriefing, often onsite at the organization.

    §  Excellent communication, customer service, problem solving, collaboration, time management and organizational skills.

    §  Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite) and willingness to learn online database for clinical record keeping.

    §  Willing to embrace EAP service delivery across a variety of multimedia tools to meet the client needs and enhance quality of services for those we serve.

    §  Strict adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
