EPIC PROGRAMMER/ANALYST (Bridges)

Type of degree: Associate Degree with 6 plus years job experience & 3 years Epic experience or Bachelor Degree with 4 plus years job experience & 2 years Epic experience
Area of study or major: Computer Science, Data Processing, Medical Technology, Radiology, Mathematics, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Laboratory, Pharmacy, or Medicine.

Licensure/Certification/Registration
· Epic BRIDGES application certification is required within six (6) months in position. Rhapsody Associate certification for the interface engine is required within 1 year in position.
Experience
Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience
Other experience requirements: Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization. Requires knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
Knowledge/Skills

- Preferred experience: HIE, Epic, FHIR, API, interoperability, FTP/IP Protocols
- Preferred languages: HL7, XML, Java, other scripting languages.

Essential Duties & Functions:
1. Responsible for the processing and implementation of approved change requests within established service level agreements.
2. Conducts HL7 and other healthcare data interoperability protocols, interface development, and data conversion.
3. Builds HL7 interface system components.
4. Works with affiliates to analyze design, document, test, troubleshoot, and coordinate implementation of HL7 interfaces.
5. Build, maintain, and support Rhapsody interface engine.
6. Conducts data analysis, data transformation and data load into Epic via HL7 and FHIR.
7. Monitors interface application error logs to overcome production and testing issues.
8. Creates, modifies, and tests message structures, events, and connections
10. Works as a team member or leader on projects as well as provides estimates for complex work efforts. Dimensions of project assignments range from simple stand-alone applications to large projects.
11. Provides back-up assistance to other team members and shares knowledge/education with fellow team members.
12. Works independently with minimal supervision.
13. Researches, learns and understands the Premier Health IT policies, procedures and practices, especially related to change management, incident handling and service level agreements.
14. Delivers solutions to complex business problems that are cost-effective and produce high levels of quality and customer satisfaction.
15. Leads and mentors other programmer analysts in the development, implementation, and problem resolution of an application. This is accomplished through planning, scheduling, assigning, coordinating, and reviewing tasks performed by team members. May provide input to the yearly performance evaluation of staff.
16. Evaluates software and hardware products and make recommendations for improving operations or processes.
17. Typical work hours are M-F 8am-5pm and may vary based operational need. May also be required to participate in a 24 x 7 on-call support rotation to meet the critical clinical and business needs of the organization.
