FLOAT: CT TECH/FT
Job Title: Float CT ech - Support
Unit: Ambulatory Imaging Div.

Facility: PSS - MVH
Required to float to any Ambulatory or FSED CT location in the system. Independently performs computed tomography (CT) procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the CT scanner. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. Must be able to cover multiple locations and/or perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.
Essential Duties & Functions:
Performs CT procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates CT studies for technical image quality.
Must train and become proficient in all Ambulatory & FSED CT locations. This role will float from site to site, based on demand.
Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the CT procedure.
Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed CT policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.
Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.
Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction
Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.
Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
Weekend and Holiday rotation will be based on system needs.

Education Required: Associate degree

CT registry preferred
ODH licensure required
Experience
Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
Preferred experience: One year experience or additional training in specialized field of CT

Cross-sectional anatomy
Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
Advanced CT computer applications
