Position Summary
General Summary/Responsibilities:
The Finance & Budget Manager is responsible for leading the budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and decision support functions for the physician network. This role manages the annual operating and capital budget processes, rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial planning while providing actionable financial insights to network leadership, physicians, and operational leaders.
The Finance & Budget Manager oversees and develops a team of financial and budget analysts, ensuring consistent methodologies, data integrity, and high-quality financial reporting. This position serves as a key financial partner to practice leadership, supporting informed decision-making related to provider compensation, staffing, productivity, practice performance, and growth initiatives.
Reporting to the Director of Finance (or CFO), the Finance & Budget Manager translates financial data into meaningful insights, ensures strong internal controls, and supports the financial health and sustainability of the physician network through disciplined planning, analysis, and performance monitoring.

Knowledge/Skills
- Strong knowledge of healthcare finance principles as they relate to physician networks, including operating and capital budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, provider compensation, productivity metrics, and practice-level performance analysis.
- Advanced financial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends and risks, and translate analysis into clear, actionable insights for leadership and physician audiences.
- Proven experience managing budgeting and forecasting processes, including rolling forecasts, multi-year financial projections, variance analysis, and assumption development.
- Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate operational and financial implications of decisions and recommend practical solutions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts, assumptions, and results to non-financial stakeholders, including physicians and practice leaders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with finance colleagues, operational leaders, physicians, and cross-functional partners.
- High level of initiative, accountability, and judgment, with the ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues or seek guidance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including complex formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling) and strong working knowledge of financial and budgeting systems; experience with healthcare financial systems and decision support tools preferred.
- Understanding of data governance, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements related to financial, provider, and organizational information.
- Adaptability and resilience in managing change, improving processes, and supporting evolving organizational priorities.
