RISK MANAGER

Minimum Level of Education Required:          Bachelor's degree

Additional requirements:

  Area of study or major: Nursing, Business Administration or healthcare field

  Preferred educational qualifications: Master’s Degree

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Current Ohio Registered Nursing License

Certification in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) preferred.  

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required:        3 - 5 years of job-related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: Progressive management experience in a healthcare environment with three years management required. Five years preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

A knowledge base that includes understanding the clinical, operational processes at a hospital, home care agency or outpatient clinic/physician’s office. The incumbent must demonstrate expertise in:

• Credible communication with patients/families, staff, physicians, executives and attorneys
• Change management
• Patient safety
• Managing group dynamics and the ability to promote relationships and collaboration
• Ability to quickly evaluate situations and recommend solutions
• Flexibility, ability to work independently
