REG RESP THERP POLY-MVH

Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED

Additional requirements:

 Preferred educational qualifications: Basic Medical Terminology, moderate computer skills

Position specific testing requirement: Must be enrolled in and have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years of enrollment.  Or Must be enrolled in or have completed training in polysomnography in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option.  The Registry exam must be passed within one year of completion of the A-Step program.   Must also participate in at least 30 credits (averaged 10 per year over the past 36 months) of sleep related continuing education credits.

§  Medical Assisting Certificate

§  Nursing Assisting Certificate

Experience:

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience.

Prior specific functional responsibilities: Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited educational facility, or a minimum 1 year as a Polysomnographic Trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies, or an allied health professional such as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Respiratory Therapist
